I'm In!

Yesterday I was accepted to the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University! I'll be starting MBA classes in a week, which is hard to believe. This year I planned to start an MBA program, and I had already chosen Pepperdine as my #1 selection, but I've been procrastinating through the formal application process.

I went to a preliminary information session back in March, then I didn't really do anything til last weekend. Last Sunday I found out that I could apply online, so I wrote all three self-assessment essays (1 page each) and finished that part of the process.

Fortunately, that was the biggest hurdle for me. I already have an MA from USC, so they waived the GMAT requirement. Thank god. I hate standardized tests, and I was never that great at the math portion, even when I was taking math classes. I hate to think what I would have scored if I had to take the test. Ugh.

Anyway, I sent them my undergrad and grad transcripts which arrived Thursday. Then I got my manager to fill in the recommendation form, and dropped that off on Friday over lunch. I also had to fax in the recommendation form to the other admission rep at their West LA campus.

To my surprise, I was emailed an acceptance letter about half an hour later! Pretty amazing turnaround, that's for sure. Since then, I experienced deja vu when I applied for a student loans at MyRichUncle.com. My company only pays 20% of tuition expenses, so loans will cover the rest til the MBA starts to pay for itself.

Wow, I can't believe I'll be a student again next week (classes start on the 28th). I'm gonna be so busy, that my blogging will probably suffer, but it will be with it in the long run.

  • "Only 20%," eh?

My employer pays $2000 (max) per calendar year.

In other words, I'm in putting myself into student loan hell for my MBA.
